babysitting

While the girls went out to celebrate Sheena's birthday we did some very responsible babysitting by teaching Joe the beer and Indian takeaway experience with authentic music collected in Nepal. Well Joe liked staying up late and eating the big crisps (poppadums) but was not very impressed by the curries.

train museum

Another great day out and Alan and Jennifer did an excellent job of explaining to Joe about the first fire engine exhibit.

around and about

Jennifer tried her first Black sheep, Alan taught Joe some trampoline moves, Sheena and Paula missed the coal mining museum to go to the sculpture park, we hiked at Malham and then we all pretended to go to sleep to try and trick the boys into going to bed early (of course they couldn't be tricked that easily)

visitors to Yorkshire

We had an excellent week with our visitors. Alan and Jennifer finished up their world tour and Tony and Paula joined us for an action packed week. First off were trips to brimham rocks where Alan did some neat rock climbing that impressed Joe and a trip to Whitby.

home time

Time to take the taxi, car ferry, two trains and the plane home again. No Joe not that plane but the big blue one.

great holiday

The boys had a great holiday and went home as best friends.

scenery

Texel has some lovely coastal scenery to enjoy. Joe thought that walking on the mud was like walking on a cheesecake.

ice cream

you can never have too much ice cream when on holiday.

aquarium

The aquarium and seal rescue centre was great but Luke found the best way to enjoy the sea shells exhibit was to climb onto the cabinet.

world cup

The boys were all dressed up to support England in the world cup but were unimpressed by the game.

On the beach

There are some lovely beaches in Texel and the boys had some fun on them.

bicycle

We travelled around the island by bicycle and it was quite relaxing for some and harder work for us.

driving

On holiday the boys got to drive lots of exciting vehicles
