learning from Finn

Cousin Finn managed to roll onto his side unaided for the first time at the weekend. As you can see Joseph was watching and learning from this and so this evening he also managed to roll over for the first time.

new shoes

Jasper and his family kindly bought Joseph his first real shoes. He is going to look super smart when he starts wearing them out and about

Joseph has just taken his first flight as pilot of the yellow bouncy plane. He enjoyed it and mastered the controls well but looks a bit confused here coming into land at Heathrow for the first time.

new chair

Joseph loves his new bumbo chair, kindly given to us by Donna. It's designed to help babies to sit upright before they can do it for themselves and he is very happy in it looking around everywhere.

rock collecting with Paul

Paul and Mike have been up rock collecting this week for their annual trip and found some good bits again. Paul gave Joe his first crystal- a piece of cubic fluorite which he will no doubt treasure for many years. Can't wait until he's older and joins us on our expeditions

week 12 update

No weigh in this week but another great week. He's started grabbing and pulling things like Sheena's hair, he's laughing and giggling more but a bit grizzly at times. Joseph has managed to slide himself along the a little on his back by pushing hard with his feet on the floor. Won't be long before he is crawling everywhere!

second visit to a folk festival

That's the second time Mummy and Daddy have dragged me to a day of folk music and I don't think I enjoyed it very much. Who was that last group anyway? Last Night's something or other I think.... now where's my milk?

who's been sleeping in my bed?

The travel cot provided by the B&B was a little larger than he is used to but at least he did not roll out during the night

In the Lake District

Joseph's first boat trip was on the windemere car ferry and you can see him enjoying the local ice cream parlour- we had to go there every day as it was raining

weekend in the Lake District

Our first holiday away in the Lake District went well and even the rain did not stop us doing some small walks with the pram. Joseph seems to love going through woods and watching the sunlight and wind in the branches above him.

week 11 update

Joseph is doing great- weighing in at 12 lbs 6 oz on week 11 and has started being able to grip and hold things like tshirts and Sheena's hair. He is also developing a large range of word like noises and seems to like talking and watching and absorbing everything around him.

visitors from Norway

It was also great to have Mike and his family to stay, straight off the boat from Stavanger. Joe got to hear his first Norwegian being spoken and could understand more than me after 10 years there.

visit from Robert, Carolyn and Sam

We enjoyed having Robert, Carolyn and Sam up to visit from Cambridge at the weekend. We all took Joe and Sam on their first visit to the Black Sheep Brewery and then on to the Brymor ice cream parlour, where you can meet the cows and then sample their fine ice creams.

first trip on a bus

Joe experiences his first trip on a bus in York and wasn't too impressed when the driver braked too hard.

cousins meet up for festival fun

Cousin Finn really enjoyed the music as well!!

the first folk music festival

Joseph got to his first folk festival at Ely last weekend and really enjoyed himself. Here he is showing his enthusiasm camped out in the field. He was subjected to morris dancers, bagpipes and the smells of festival food and real ale. He can't wait for his next festival in three weeks time!
